Servista began in 1999 as a new consumer brand, the first online service to offer gas, electricity and telephony to households. It has since become a behind-the-brand provider, taking charge of all the customer service and billing arrangements to enable Lloyds TSB to sell gas, electricity and telephony, and Tesco and the Post Office to offer telephone packages. Servista was co-founded by Courtney Sheets, an American who was previously managing director of Oxford Semiconductor.
It has raised £10m in venture-capital funding from Arts Alliance, Sofinnova Partners and Ergo Equity Partners. Sales have grown 269% a year from £465,000 in 2001 to £6.3m in 2003.
