Airlines are battling for first and business class passengers by tempting them with ever more comfortable seats. Britax is at the forefront of aircraft seat design and makes the flat beds for British Airways planes. The company also makes aircraft cabins, lavatories and galleys, along with child safety seats for cars and hazard warning lights. All this amounted to sales of £432m in 2003. The Warwick company was taken private in 2001 in a £441m deal backed by Royal Bank Equity Finance.
