Esmail Mohamed handed over his Bradford radio shop to his sons, Ashraf, Ilyas and Tariq, in 1979. Changing the name to S&I Electronics and moving to north London, the three brothers have built the company into a retailer of large, American-style home appliances and a wholesaler of CCTV equipment, television sets, hi-fi systems and mobile phones. Sales to customers, ranging from Kensington Palace to Carphone Warehouse and Currys, have grown 96% a year from £18.6m in 1998 to £138.9m in 2001, when the company had 37 employees.
