Signal Media uses machine-learning technology to analyse more than 2.8m online, print, television, radio and social media sources from 200 markets, which it translates from over 100 languages. This data is used by the company’s customers, which include TalkTalk, Barclays and Amnesty International, to track news in real-time to uncover trends and support decision-making. Signal Media was set up in 2013 by David Benigson, 30, and Dr Miguel Martinez, 32, a researcher in natural language processing and machine learning. It opened its first overseas office in New York last year and grew sales to £2.2m in 2018. In June, it raised $16m to fund its expansion in the US in a round led by GMG Ventures.
