Chief executive Simon Wright set up his construction company in 1997, at the age of 30, with £750,000 from the sale of his plant-hire firm. Up until this year, Maidstone-based SJW Developments was part housebuilder and part supplier of specialist contract workers such as plasterers. The contract division was hived off in September, leaving Simon Wright Homes, with its secured land bank of 180 units, to focus on building new homes in Kent and Sussex. Sales of the combined business have grown 89% a year from £1.2m in 2002 to £8.4m in 2005.
