Dave Carrington began working in a Whitby seafood factory with just one O-level to his name. It was only later, while selling computer hardware, that he found his vocation. By 1996, he had saved £20,000 and started Oxfordshire- based SkyNet Systems to resell computers, mainly to medium-sized companies. SkyNet’s sales have grown 98% a year from £2.1m in 1998 to £16.4m in 2001, when it employed 17 staff.
