Travel website Skyscanner compares prices on millions of flights, hotels, holidays and car hire options each month. The site receives 26m visits a month of which more than three-quarters are from overseas, and its mobile apps have been downloaded 9m times since they were launched last year. Co-founders Gareth Williams, Barry Smith and Bonamy Grimes started the Edinburgh-headquartered company in 2001, and Scottish Equity Partners invested £2.5m of venture capital in 2007. Sales grew 118% a year, from £2.1m in 2008 to an annualised £21.7m in 2011.
