SmartSourcing uses the internet to supply companies with skilled business and IT professionals. Candidates register online to view and apply for vacancies posted by its 95 clients, which range from leading insurance companies to large public-sector departments. The company, founded in 2002 by managing director John Adlington and two business colleagues, is now looking to its new E-SmartSourcing software to allow it to go one step further and become the in-house recruitment arm of its clients – managing their careers websites, for example, and processing job applications and assessing candidates. The company’s sales have grown 119% a year, from an annualised £912,000 in 2002 to £9.5m in 2005.
