The Snowie Group was founded in 1957 by the Snowie family at their farm in the Ochil Hills near Stirling in Scotland. When their father died in 1977, the four Snowie brothers decided to expand the business away from farming and into waste management. Clients now include several water authorities and milk, food and beer companies across Britain. The company’s contracts can last from two days to 20 years. Profits have grown 82% a year, from £1.3m in 1998 to £8m in 2001.
As Britain is five years behind most other European countries in recycling waste, Snowie expects its business to keep growing strongly and is beginning to expand south of the border.
