Fast Track 100

In August, Software Catalogue was renamed Softcat in a move designed to restructure all companies in the group in preparation for flotation in 2002. Peter Kelly (pictured below), founder and managing director of the mail-order software company aimed at the business-to-business market, has recently taken his management philosophy one step further. Staff now vote on their senior managers and on their own salaries. The High Wycombe company, founded in 1993, now claims to have more than 32,000 customers. Sales have grown 85% a year, from £2.6m in 1996 to £16.3m in 1999. Appearing for the second time in the Fast Track 100 league table, Softcat was also a finalist in the 2000 NatWest/Sunday Times Business Enterprise Awards, alongside such well-known companies as the travel firm Airtours.

This profile reflects the company at time of publication and does not reflect any changes that may have subsequently occurred. Fast Track and its sponsors do not endorse, guarantee or recommend investment in any of the companies.
