Originally a niche business selling flights to British Asians travelling to India, Southall Travel has transformed itself since chief executive Kuljinder Bahia took over in 1997 at the age of 24. The company now arranges flights and package holidays, as well as car hire and insurance. The family firm has a wholesale division, The Holiday Team, and a corporate division, Applehouse Travel. Southall reports that some 350,000 people arranged their journeys through the company in its 2011 financial year, boosting sales by 19% to £243.3m.
