Southall Travel’s top destination is India, and its principal market is British Asians. It also sells flights to the Middle East, Far East and North America from its website and a call centre in New Delhi. Kuljinder Bahia was appointed managing director of the firm in 1997 at the age of 24. He initiated a £1m advertising campaign in 2004, which put the company’s name on Heathrow billboards and Sky television. All this helped to grow sales 63% a year, from £5.9m in 2001 to £25.5m in 2004.
