This historic club, nicknamed “The Saints”, was originally a church football team founded in 1885. Promotion to the Premier League in 2012 after a seven-year absence helped to add £90m to its annual revenues to reach £113.7m this year. Chairwoman Katharina Liebherr, 38, owns the club after inheriting it from her father, the billionaire industrialist Markus Liebherr. In May the team finished seventh in the 2014-15 Premier League, with striker Sadio Mané scoring the fastest hat trick in league history in the last home game of the season.
