Specsavers has been voted Britain’s most trusted brand of opticians by Reader’s Digest for 10 consecutive years. “Should’ve gone to Specsavers” is its well-known slogan, and the company claims that a d of British glasses and contact-lens wearers do just that. It also bills itself as the biggest British retailer of digital hearing aids. Doug and Dame Mary Perkins started the business on a ping-pong table in the spare bedroom of their home in Guernsey in 1984. The Nottingham-headquartered company now employs more than 26,000 people and has 1,500 stores across Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Sales were £1,360m in 2010.
