Speed Frame has a twin claim to success, having featured last year in Profit Track’s sister league table, Fast Track 100. Profits at the Rotherham-based window manufacturer have risen by 61% pa, from £758,000 in 1995 to £3.1m in 1998. Sales have grown by 74% pa in the same period to reach £17.9m. Set up in 1994 by Ian Harrison, Speed Frame claims to have set new industry standards with a five-day manufacture and delivery service for its clients, who include window installers and large UK housebuilders. It also claims to have the largest automated factory of its kind in Europe. The company invested £3.5m in computer machinery from 1995 to 1998 to ensure the most efficient production processes, and it plans to invest a further £7.5m over the next two years.
