Founded by Ian Harrison in 1994, the Rotherham-based window maker claims to have set new industry standards by offering large housebuilders a five-day manufacture and delivery service. Speed Frame says it regularly receives visits from German manufactures keen to see how it does this. The company has driven profits up 30% a year, from £1.8m in 1996 to £4.1m in 1999, when sales reached £22.6m. The company continues to invest heavily in its infrastructure and is currently building its fifth factory at a cost of £7.5m. Having spent six years growing sales, a policy that saw it appear on the 1999 Fast Track 100, the company is now concentrating on profits, which sees it appear on the Profit Track 100 for a second year.
