In a world where grocers are now selling everything from cornflakes to insurance, there has been an explosion in demand for financial websites. Spektra Systems has capitalised on this, designing web-based systems for the likes of Tesco Personal Finance and Norwich Union.

The Livingston company was founded by Gordon Stuart after a 1996 management buyout of the software-development arm of Schindler, the Swiss lift maker. Sales increased 104% a year, from £900,000 in 1998 to £3.8m in 2000.

This profile reflects the company at time of publication and does not reflect any changes that may have subsequently occurred. Fast Track and its sponsors do not endorse, guarantee or recommend investment in any of the companies.
