Spektra’s software helps link the Tesco Personal Finance website to the Royal Bank of Scotland website, which provides some of Tesco’s financial products. Gordon Stuart and three co-founders started the company in 1996 with a management buyout of the software development arm of Schindler, the Swiss lift maker. Integrating collaborative websites for Aegon and Norwich Union, among others, has helped Spektra to increase sales 76% a year from £900,000 in 1998 to £4.9m in 2001, when the Livingston, West Lothian, company had 55 employees.
