Chris Barker, 40, set up this Leicester business in 2007 as a prescription medication supplier. In 2012 it began providing education services for people living with diabetes; one launched this year aims to put type 2 diabetes into remission by offering specialist advice on diet and lifestyle changes. In 2017, the business diversified to include managing GP surgeries and it has also launched its own software, which remotely monitors patients with long-term conditions, storing the data on the NHS intranet and improving patient outcomes — an area that now accounts for 10% of revenue. Sales hit £14.3m this March, and in the next five years the company hopes to increase its patient base from 1m to 10m.
