SSP is dedicated to providing food in travel locations, and operates in more than 130 airports and 300 railway stations in 28 countries. It owns a wide portfolio of food and beverage brands including Upper Crust, Caffè Ritazza, Harry Ramsden’s and Millie’s Cookies. It also runs outlets under third-party brands such as Starbucks, Burger King and M&S Simply Food. Formerly part of Compass Group, SSP was bought by the Swedish private-equity firm EQT in 2006. Sales reached £1,236m in 2007 under chief executive Andrew Lynch.
