Staircases, joist floors, door linings and other timber products are manufactured at this firm’s 10 UK facilities. Managing director Andy Hamilton, 53, founded the Nuneaton company in 1985 with a £5,000 loan from his father after leaving school without any qualifications. The builders’ merchant Travis Perkins took a 15% stake in the business in 2015 for an undisclosed sum and sales reached £35.9m last year. It says it is now Europe’s largest staircase manufacturer, with 1,500 houses built each week using its products.
