Stannah Lifts

This year Stannah Lifts celebrated the installation of its 500,000th stairlift. The Hampshire company was founded by Joseph Stannah in 1867 to make lifts to move ships’ cargo. Today, it is best known for stairlifts for the elderly and infirm, but it also manufactures passenger lifts as well as dumbwaiters, trolley lifts and escalators. Managing director Jon Stannah represents the fifth generation of his family to run the business, which operates in more than 40 countries, helping sales to reach £183.9m in 2010.
