Sanjeev and Arani Soosaipillai’s Weybridge firm imports fuel from oil companies and blends it before selling it under the Prax Petroleum brand to clients including Royal Mail, Stagecoach, National Express and Nato (for UK operations). It also uses the State Oil name at its 22 service stations, some of which it manages for larger oil companies. With relatively low overheads, it claims to pass on competitive prices and offer its customers flexible delivery options. Sales grew 77% a year, from £75.2m in 2008 to £419.7m in 2011, though margins were very slim.
