When the online insurer Swiftcover wanted to boost sales, it turned to Steak, a digital marketing agency based in London. Steak devised an internet marketing campaign, which included a website that sends insurance quotes to mobile phones. The company’s blue-chip clients include British Gas and John Lewis, and last year it launched a sister company called Minute Steak to cater for businesses with smaller advertising budgets. Steak was founded in 2005 and is led by group chief executive Oliver Bishop. Sales have risen 98% a year from an annualised £3.5m in 2006 to £26.9m in 2009.
