Formed in 1968, Steel & Alloy Processing says it is the nation’s largest independent automotive steel processor, and counts both Arcelor and Corus among suppliers. Headquartered in West Bromwich, the company processes 320,000 tonnes of steel each year, supplying clients such as Toyota and Honda. Owned by the Ashwell family and led by managing director Mark Cooper, the firm achieved sales of £146.5m in 2006.
