The company was founded by the father of current chairman Julian Robbins in 1965, and says it supplies 100,000 tons of steel a year. Rising demand and higher steel prices have helped profits at Steel Plate & Sections grow 80% a year from £637,000 in 2001 to £3.7m in 2004.
