Profit Track 100

This Doncaster firm was started by Oscar Weaver in 1919, and is now run by his grandson Irving. Strata’s growth has come mostly from building housing estates in Yorkshire and the East Midlands, where its homes sell for an average of £155,000. Its construction division also builds schools and offices, and does refurbishment work. Stable costs, strong demand and rising house prices in the north have boosted Strata’s profits, which grew 78% a year from £2.7m in 2001 to £15.3m in 2004.
