When Steve Bramwell and Mark Williams, former colleagues at Morgan Stanley, the investment bank, saw that it was almost impossible to find good IT staff in southeast England, they headed back to the northwest to set up Strategic Systems Solutions. The Liverpool company develops software for investment banks. Its sales have grown 47% a year, from £6.3m in 1998 to £13.8m in 2000.
