You can buy its fruit bars and packets of fruit flakes in Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s under the Fruit Bowl brand. Streamfoods has leapt on the trend towards healthier snacks packaged like sweets, and it markets them by setting up tasting booths at sports events. In this way the company has grown sales 84% a year, from £874,000 in 2001 to £5.5m in 2004. Ian Ding and Paul Newberry remortgaged their homes in 1999 to raise some of the £1m needed to start the company.
