The Times and Greggs are two of more than 1,000 brands that use Student Beans’ technology platform. Founded in 2005 by Michael Eder, 39, and his brother James, 37, this London company provides discounts for students through its app and website, codes to use in physical stores and widgets embedded in brands’ e-commerce sites. During lockdown, it surveyed its database of student users to understand attitudes to the pandemic, helping brands to target their services more appropriately. Student Beans has offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, New York, Melbourne and Manila. Sales hit £10m this year, driven by growth in America and Australia.
