This Gloucestershire group, which develops single-use medical devices, consists of three companies. Orthodynamics makes hip and knee implants; Marlux Medical produces disposable curtains; and Summit Medical sells a variety of products such as vacuums for wound drainage. About a third of the group’s sales are domestic, a third are generated in mainland Europe, and the rest mainly in North America. Since 2008, Summit has been owned by the American private equity firm Riverside and, under chief executive Frank Collins, international sales grew 60% a year, from £6.8m in 2009 to £17.3m in 2011.
