Justin Stone intended Surfdome to be an indoor surf centre surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. This idea never materialised, but having developed relationships with the manufacturers of surf products during the process, he set up surfdome.com in 2005. The site now sells clothing, accessories and equipment for well-known lifestyle, fashion, outdoor and sports brands. The business claims to offer 18,000 unique products on behalf of 500 brands, including Roxy, Quiksilver and The North Face. On account of its range and online presence, the firm’s sales grew 92% a year, from £1m in 2007 to £7.3m in 2010.
