Alan Sutherland bucks all the rules of recruitment by employing only former colleagues and friends. “The City of London is one big village really,” he says.
He founded Sutherland Consulting in 1996 after a career managing big IT projects for banks such as JP Morgan and Salomon Brothers.
“We employ former City professionals who can step in and think creatively immediately. It gives us an edge against companies that employ graduates with no experience.”
Sales of the London company have grown 136% a year, from £704,000 in 1998 to £3.9m in 2000.
