Swire is a sprawling conglomerate with interests in a range of sectors, including shipping, cold storage and agriculture. The group, which was founded in 1816, is headquartered in London, but has operations across the Asia-Pacific region and North America. Swire owns 43% of Swire Pacific, a company listed in Hong Kong, whose business interests include the airline Cathay Pacific and a Coca-Cola bottling business. The group, which is chaired by James Hughes-Hallett, remains under family control and sales in 2011 were £4.8 billion.
