If your attention has been caught by a digital billboard recently, the chances are that Talon Outdoor had a hand in its presence. The company helps its clients – media agencies and advertisers – place outdoor advertising campaigns with billboard owners such as JCDecaux and Clear Channel. Originally part of Ptarmigan Media, industry veteran Eric Newnham, 56, bought a majority stake in 2012. Now chief executive, Newnham has spearheaded the growth of the business, signing up US advertising giant Omnicom as a client in 2013. Sales, which represent fees generated, reached £8m, on total billings of £106.9m last year.
