Robert Davies, co-founder of Tax Computer Systems, says tax calculations are getting so complex that even the most seasoned tax professionals need a helping hand. The company claims its software, called Alphatax, is one of only a few successors to older, spreadsheet-based formats. Training is offered to acquaint new users with the software, which is designed for the tax-literate, such as finance directors. Customers include BAE Systems, IBM, KPMG and Ernst & Young. The company is 100%-owned by management. The Surrey firm’s sales have grown 45% a year from £2.1m in 2002 to an annualisd £4.4m in 2004.
