Fast Track 100

According to Robert Davies, co-founder of Tax Computer Systems (TCS), calculations are getting so complex that even the most seasoned tax professionals need a helping hand. TCS’s software, called Alphatax, is designed with the tax-literate in mind, such as finance directors, and the company says it offers induction training to customers such as Marks & Spencer, Orange and IBM. Shares owned by the first-round investor Jon Moulton of Alchemy Partners were bought by KPMG in 2000 for an undisclosed sum. The company’s sales grew 85% a year from an annualised £541,000 in 2000 to £3.4m in 2003.
