This games developer is best known for its Worms game franchise, which has sold 75m copies. It sells its titles worldwide through distributors such as Sony, Microsoft, Apple and Google. It also works closely with independent developers to help bring their products to market, such as the Yooka-Laylee game from Playtonic. It secured a £16.5m from investment firm LDC in 2016, when it spent an undisclosed sum to acquire Mouldy Toof Studios, the developer behind the popular prison break game, The Escapists. Under founder and chief executive Debbie Bestwick MBE, 46, who led a management buyout in 2011, profits were £5.2m in 2016, which it expects to more than double this year.
