Based on the Isle of Bute, just off Scotland’s west coast, Telecom Service Centres designs, builds and staffs call centres that help companies such as T-Mobile, Royal Bank of Scotland and Morgan Stanley to contact customers by phone or e-mail. Set up in 1994 by Lennie Moffat, Hector Cameron, Cameron McColl and Harry Summers to create good jobs in rural Scottish communities, the company now has six locations. Its sales have grown 73% a year, from £5m in 1998 to £26.2m in 2001 when the company had 1,407 staff.
