Tetrosyl was founded in 1954 to provide a paint mixing service for car repair shops. Today, the company is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of car care products and the UK’s biggest independent oil blender. It also runs a chain of car parts stores, and in 2019, it acquired Oldham-based manufacturer James Briggs. Tetrosyl’s car care brands include CarPlan, T-Cut and Carlube, and it relaunched the Nilco brand of cleaning chemicals last year. The Rochdale-based group sells to 100 countries and exports reached £52.7m in the year to March 2020. The founder’s son, Peter Schofield, 59, is chairman.
