The APM Group

Early in his career, civil engineer Richard Pharro worked on construction projects such as London Docklands. He built on this experience when, in 1993, he set up APM Group, a certification body to develop an accreditation and qualification scheme for Prince 2, the project-management methodology used by the British government and owned by the Cabinet Office. Based in High Wycombe, APM now has 24 programmes in 22 languages and operates in the UK, mainland Europe, America, Australia, China, India and Malaysia. The AA, Disney, Vodafone, BT and London Underground have taken APM Group certifications, and overseas expansion drove profit growth of 53% a year, from £1.5m in 2008 to £5.2m in 2011.
