Fast Track 100

Former England squash player John Treharne, 58, founded this gym chain in 2008, offering low-cost membership without contracts. The chain has 27 gyms in British cities, including 8 in London, and plans 19 more. It claims that low overheads keep costs down for members – users sign up online, through mobile devices or at a kiosk in the gym. The chain has had 350,000 new members to date and 6m visits to its gyms in the past 12 months. The Guildford-headquartered business was started with funding from Bridges Ventures, which has committed £17.5m in exchange for an 85% stake.
