The Hut Group is an online retailer that uses its proprietary platform to operate more than 30 websites selling products including fashion, entertainment, and health and beauty goods, as well as compiling data on consumer behaviour. Chief executive Matt Moulding and chief financial officer John Gallemore founded the Cheshire-based group in 2004, and current backers include Balderton Capital and Artemis. Organic growth coupled with acquisitions grew sales 81% a year from £24m in 2008 to £142m in 2011.
