Started as a government project in 2007, this school support service was spun off as a private business in 2009 under the leadership of chief executive Fergal Roche, 54, a former headteacher. It provides management support and advice to school leaders, including 64,000 managers and 14,000 school governors in 9,600 schools, covering topics such as school improvement, preparing for inspections, financial management and recruitment. Last year the company completed a management buyout from Ten Lifestyle Management, with backing from Isfield Investments, which is led by former Hg Capital chairman Ian Armitage, 60. This year it increased sales to £6.9m.
