This Eastbourne book wholesaler represents some 3,000 publishers and last year won the Waterstone’s account from its rival Betrams. According to Gardners Books, Waterstone’s was attracted by the company’s list of 400,000 titles and its predictive delivery systems, which allow the bookseller to give its customers information about the status of their orders. The company claims to have spent £15m in the past five years updating its warehouse technology and ordering systems. Headed by Jonathan Little, it had sales of £135.2m in the year to February 2005.
