Established in 1825, Mawdsley holds one of the largest licence ranges in the market supplying more than 20,000 medicines and pharmaceutical products to chemists, hospitals and GPs. The Manchester firm also has a thriving export business. It owns Doncaster Pharmaceuticals, which imports competitively-priced medicines and Positive Solutions, supplying pharmacy IT systems. Still owned by the Mawdsley family, the firm has distribution centres at Salford, West Bromwich, Sheffield and Milton Keynes. Sales in 2007 were £288m.
