Like many in its sector, Edinburgh housebuilder and property developer Miller Group has struggled through the recession. Sales, including joint ventures, dropped 15% to £666m in 2010 due to reduced construction activity, and the company posted a loss before tax for the d consecutive year. However, it continues to pay down its debt, which stands at more than £700m, and expects to grow the business in the year ahead. Recent projects include a £30m science and technology centre at Staffordshire University and work has just started on a £12m student- accommodation project at Heriot-Watt University’s Scottish Borders campus. The company is run by chief executive Keith Miller, nephew of the founder, the late Sir James Miller.
