The REaD Group

THE REaD Group claims that more than 50% of direct mail in this country is screened against one of its databases. Founded by Mark Roy, the company runs a database that tracks people who have moved house. In 2000, when his seven-year-old son asked Roy why his dead mother was still receiving mail, he launched the Bereavement Register to compile a database of people who have died. With 1,600 clients using its databases to target their marketing campaigns more effectively, the company has grown sales 56% a year, from £1.5m in 2001 to £5.6m in 2004.
