The Remet Company buys non-ferrous metals, including scrap aluminium, copper, lead and zinc, and sells them around the world. Its subsidiary, Avon Metals, produces speciality aluminium alloys and trades in small-volume, high-value metals including titanium and tantalum for customers in the aerospace and automotive industries. China is a key market and the company has an office in Hong Kong. Led by chairman Walter Reid, overseas sales grew by 28% a year from £80.7m in 2009 to £132.3m in 2011, helped by increases in global metal prices.
