Ever wondered why some companies rank highly on internet search engine results? The ranking is determined by an auction process based on key words such as “holiday” or “mortgage”. The Search Works (TSW), founded by David Harrison, uses its own software called BidBuddy to help clients make cost-efficient bids across various search engines. When internet users click through to one of its clients’ websites, the client pays the search engine, and TSW takes a management fee. New customers, including Carphone Warehouse and First Choice, have boosted sales 166% a year from £751,000 in 2002 to £5.3m in 2004.

This profile reflects the company at time of publication and does not reflect any changes that may have subsequently occurred. Fast Track and its sponsors do not endorse, guarantee or recommend investment in any of the companies.
